Born on the sunny shores of Lahaina, Maui Tea Shack started with a love for tea and a passion for the island flavors. Our small batch, organic loose leaf teas are hand crafted with care, and infused with aloha. From bright, tropical blends to soothing herbal infusions, every cup is a little reminder to slow down and savor the moment. We believe in community, connection, and good tea shared with good people.

 

About 

I’m Melissa McLaughlin, the heart and soul behind Maui Tea Shack. My love affair with tea began around the same time I moved to Maui in 2001, a time when I was falling in love with Hawai‘i’s culture, the ocean, and the incredible flavors of the islands. I started drinking tea for its health benefits, and I quickly realized it was so much more than that. Tea became a source of comfort, a daily ritual, and a way to slow down and be present. That simple discovery sparked a lifelong passion for learning about the healing properties of plants and how they nourish both body and spirit.

Then, in August 2023, everything changed. The devastating Lahaina Fire took my family home, deeply impacted my health, and forced me to step away from my 20 year career as a massage therapist. My body could no longer do the work I loved, but my heart still longed to help people feel good and find comfort. From there, Maui Tea Shack was born.  It is a way to share comfort, healing, and connection through tea. Every cup we offer is a blend of wellness, sustainability, and community, crafted with the same love and care that first drew me to this island over two decades ago.

When I'm not blending teas, you can find me enjoying this beautiful island with my 10 year old son, enjoying community events, and getting crafty in one way or another.  Fun fact: my current favorite tea blend is our Hula Girl Hibiscus. I'm loving it iced!
